Village Parade
July 4, 2003
Started at the Antioch Company parking lot
Marching route down Dayton Street to Limestone Street to Xenia Avenue to Bryan Center

Apologies to any group whose parade entry is not featured here. There were a few who were missed due to lack of skill in the photographer.

Waiting


Parade Kickoff:
Historical Society members Nancy Noonan and Peggy Erskine start the parade with a banner featuring the new Historical Society logo created by Steve Rumbaugh

Village Government:
Mayor Dave Foubert has own cart; the Fire Department joins in; and four former village managers share a PT Cruiser.


Children
: Younger village residents were represented individually and in organizations (Community Children's Center, T-Ball, Girl Scouts, YS Kids' Playhouse and Sea Dogs swim team)







Tractors
: (The blue entry is ridden by Historical Society President Dave Neuhardt.)



Classic Vehicles: Proud owners road both less and more recent automotive classics.





Churches: Central A.M.E. and the Assembly of God each contributed a float.



Community Organizations
: Lions' Club, Community Foundation, Yellow Springs Rockers square dancers and the Community Band

 





Puppets: Created in a workshop led by parade coordinator Beth Holyoke, the puppets (representing historical village figures Horace Mann, Wheeling Gaunt and the spirit of Helen Birch Barrett) would be put to use again in the historical pageant a few weeks later.





Reunions: High school reunions scheduled for the weekend took the opportunity to promote themselves.
